CA Blogging Assignment #2

My revised thesis statement for Essay 1 is the Australian education can be characterized as anti-racist because it focuses on understanding and respecting other races and ethnicity. The three main supporting ideas for this thesis are as follows: the ESL education, the religious education and Harmony Day.
The first supporting point for my thesis is that the ESL education facilitates immigrants to go to Australian schools and students will have opportunities to interact with others of different races, ethnicity and cultural background. This system allows the ESL students to develop their English skills in a less stressed situation and with the help of specialized teachers.  This eventually leads to easier enrolment to Australian schools and to the education focusing on understanding other races and ethnicity.
The second supporting point is the religious classes in public schools.  Students choose which religion class according to their belief.  There are classes for students who do have any religion.  This system let know the students the diversity of culture naturally. Religion, a culture that is rather thought as a taboo in Japan, is accepted and respected in Australia.
The third supporting point is Harmony Day.  This is a day that many events are held that aims on harmony of different races and cultures.  A poster contest is held in public schools that give a chance for students about multiculturalism and living in harmony with people of different backgrounds.

  1. Your supporting points will help get your thesis across. They are usable. They also need to be attached to the thesis in a clear and succinct way when the thesis is presented at the end of the introduction paragraph.

Here's an example of what I mean...

Australian education can be characterized as anti-racist because it focuses on understanding and respecting other races and ethnicity through appropriate ESL education for non-natives, non-discriminatory religious education, and inclusive educational events such as Harmony Day.
